In the world of gaming, sound is just as important as visuals.
At VRKAA, we believe the sound you hear should not only touch your ears but also take you into the world of the game you are playing. Whether you are the protagonist of an Open-World game, playing a competitive FPS, or just chilling in a calm Simulation game, it is your headset that helps you immerse yourself in that vast world, hear each step of enemies, and enjoy the game as it was meant to be.
That's why it matters what kind of headset you are choosing. Is it just marketing fluff, something like 12000 DPI or actual performance? That's the reason we are here to help you understand the tech behind your peripheral. So let us tell you...
What is Stereo Sound?
But before explaining Stereo Sound, we have to understand what Monophonic Sound, or shortly Mono Sound, is.
Simply, Mono Sound means that there is only one audio channel for playback. So when you are playing games, all the sound elements (like character sound, environment sound, action sound, etc) are combined in a single audio channel and given out to you at the same volume.
While in Stereo Sound, two audio channels are used for playback sound, which are left and right. That means when you are playing games, the Stereo Sound adjusts each sound element dynamically to give you a better sense of direction.
How does it affect your gaming?
Let's say you are camping and patiently hearing enemy footsteps using Mono Headsets, you will hear equal volume sound from both speakers, and you will not be able to tell which side your enemy is coming from. But if you are using Stereo Sound Headsets, you will be able to tell the exact direction of the sound source that is the enemy in this case.
While Mono Sound is preferred for recording, listening to podcasts, and for mobile phone calling, Stereo Sound is preferred for gaming. Although categorically, no certain sound type is superior to another, and the choice totally depends on the use case scenario.
Also, this technological difference might sound very hi-fi, but nowadays products of both categories are available at almost the same price.
So now you know How not to fall for fluff marketing and choose what is good for your gaming.
At VRKAA, we understand what is good for your gaming, and we spend lots of time researching so that you don't have to. Explore the best gaming peripherals for every budget and enjoy your gaming as it was meant to be!!
